Vestigium Park: When MioShe weaves the paradoxes of our time

‎ la‎ Fondation‎ Desperados‎ pour‎ l’art‎ urbain accompanies artist Antoine Martinet, alias MioShe, in his exploration of the medium tapestry, through the creation of a series of weavings that he imagined and made realized digitally by the Neolice workshop in Aubusson.
In this long-term project, entitled Vestigium Park, which began in 2019, the artist revisits archetypes of ancient art to better question our times. At the crossroads of the medieval hangings of the Apocalypse of Angers and the Afghan war carpets of the late 20th century, its compositions take the form of rich narrative friezes. They evoke the complexity of modern civilizations and reflect the artist's central concerns: hyperproduction, depletion of resources, relations of domination, ecology.

From his fresco Straighttopies — an extensive ecological narrative illustrating the clash of civilizations — MioShe designed a new series of four thematic weavings:

« Natural reserves » depicts the evangelization of indigenous peoples and deforestation of primary forests, « Rare Earth » explores the intensive mining of our basements, while « Hydrostrategies » and « Humanoplankton » present the ocean as a theatre of geopolitical conflicts.

Through this work, the artist weaves a critical and committed visual language, between textile heritage and looking at the present.
