Supporting urban artists on the institutional stage
Artists Jérôme G. Demuth and Cristobal Diaz present their works in the Loading exhibition. Urban art in the digital age, proposed by the Grand Palais Immersif. Thought for this opportunity, their creations explore the links between street practices, participation and new technologies.
With On the streetJérôme G. Demuth proposes an immersive and evolutionary installation. The public is invited to leave their mark — his "blaze" — on living-size urban furniture elements: metal curtains (shoprolls) and a graffiti truck cab (Truckrolls) can be manipulated. Gradually, these surfaces write collectively, becoming urban guestbooks where the individual joins the common. The work acts as a decompression airlock between inside the museum and outside tumult.
Cristobal Diaz continued his work of archiving the French graffiti started in 2015. Through a real-time capture device, he captures the gesture proper to urban writing and extends this exploration in a film centered on the female practices of graffiti. A rare, sensitive and committed look on a scene often invisible.
By accompanying the production of these works and supporting their integration in an institutional context, La Fondation continues to defend a living approach to contemporary creation. The one that crosses disciplines, explores new formats and makes urban art dialogue with multiple audiences.
