GraffBox 360°: a sensitive immersion in the art of graffiti
Product by la Fondation Desperados pour l’art urbain, GraffBox 360° is a new immersive film directed by Cristobal Diaz, alias Cristo. Through the gestures, styles and signatures of more than 80 artists, the film offers a rare and poetic dive into the richness of contemporary French urban creation.
Since 2015, Cristo has been conducting ambitious archiving work around graffiti. With the GraffBox, a recording device that he himself designed, he records the gesture of artists in real time. That videograph look — both accomplice, technical and deeply sensitive — documents an ephemeral art, often marginalized, revealing all its precision, virtuosity, choreography.
GraffBox 360° shows the creation as close as possible to the artistic act: a black line on a white background, to better bring out the diversity of styles — From classical graffiti to graffiti, from post-graffiti to contemporary art. Each plan reveals a fragment of this rich visual language, nourished by decades of urban culture.
Presented for the first time in the 360° immersive device of the Hip Hop 360 exhibition at the Philharmonie de Paris, the film was the subject of three exclusive screenings organized by La Fondation. A first in this format, made possible thanks to its support.
Giving voice and visibility to several generations of artists — Apotre, L — GraffBox 360° acts as an act of memory, transmission and recognition. A vibrant tribute to a living culture, in perpetual movement.
