A moving exhibition in public space

For this first white card entrusted to Red — rising figure of the contemporary urban scene — The artist imagines Courts-Circuits, an unprecedented collaborative and participatory project.
In exchange for a "life loan" formalized by a legal document, six anonymous amateurs, selected by letter of motivation, are entrusted with transportable works, created by Rouge and five artists invited by him — Madame, Manolo Mesa, Isaac Cordal, Matth Velvet and Rero. In return, they undertake to circulate these works in the streets of Bordeaux once a month for six months. The walks take place alone or in groups, at the rhythm of each person.

Thought like an open-air art lab, Short-Circuit blurs the boundaries between street and gallery art. By integrating workshop works into public space, the project questions the usual frames of montration: can a work exist outside the places of legitimation? How to create a direct link between a work and its audience, beyond institutional channels?

As they wander, the works permeate cross-eyed eyes, bytuitous encounters, becoming vectors of multiple narratives. Each journey transforms them and enriches their memory, making the city a ground for artistic experimentation, living and sensitive. Surprising bystanders, Short-Circuit Reactive art in everyday life and transforms the street into an open scene.

Confronted with the detour of a street, these works are not content to be seen: they invite exchange, trouble, involvement. Passers-by become much more than spectators: they are witnesses, accomplices, sometimes even actors. By removing the barriers between creation, transmission and reception, the project creates a direct and spontaneous relationship between the works and the city, its inhabitants and visitors.
